Meal prep in London

Built for a city that orders weekly and is hard to drive across.

London buys meal prep in volume. Gyms and boxing clubs from Bethnal Green to Battersea, office workers in the City and Canary Wharf who eat at their desks, students across a dozen universities, and the nurses and porters working shifts at the big hospitals all order the same thing: a week of meals decided once. Mealforma is meal prep software that gives a London company one place to sell those plans, take the orders and see the week's numbers.

Driving in London is the hard part. The congestion charge covers the centre by day, the ULEZ covers every borough around the clock, and red routes and controlled parking leave a driver nowhere to stop. Then there is the last twenty metres: a block of flats with an entry phone, a concierge desk, a side door down a mews. Mealforma builds each day's route from the actual orders, gives the driver the stops in order with the customer's access notes, and takes a photo on delivery.

The city spreads a long way. A kitchen in Hackney can have customers in Richmond and Bromley, an hour apart on a bad afternoon, so most London operators run several short rounds rather than one long one. Delivery zones, fees, cut-off times and delivery windows are settings you change yourself. Starting inside the North and South Circular and adding an outer zone once the orders are there is a zone and a delivery window, not a new system.

London customers expect to do everything from the phone at eleven at night: pick next week's meals, swap one, skip a week, pause for a holiday, change the door code. The storefront and the customer account handle all of that without an email to you. The same record holds the address, the entry instructions and the safe place, so what somebody typed on Sunday is what the driver sees on Tuesday.

How to start a meal prep business in the United Kingdom

Why London operators move

Three things we decided, so you do not have to negotiate them.

Built-in AI. Set up in minutes, easy every day.

Your shop is ready the moment you sign up, and your team can run it without training. Then switch on AI wherever it helps: a chat on your website that answers customers from your own menu, an assistant in your admin that finds orders and drafts replies, and recipe import that turns a pasted recipe into macros and labels.

See what the AI does

No percentage of your sales. Ever.

A flat monthly price, and that is the whole bill for the platform. We do not take a cut of your orders, your subscriptions or your growth, and we are not going to add it later.

See pricing

One system, from the shopping cart to the driver.

The menu a customer orders from is the same data the kitchen produces against, the labels print from, and the route is built from. Nothing is re-keyed between tools.

Scope

Meal prep software from the shopping cart to the front door.

Six surfaces that share one catalogue, one set of recipe versions and one order record. Nothing is re-keyed between them.

Storefront and customer portal

A shop your customers order from, and a portal they manage their plan in — both driven by your catalogue rather than a separate website you keep in sync by hand.

Subscriptions and checkout

The part most meal-prep businesses actually run on, modelled properly instead of as a recurring charge with a menu attached.

Kitchen production

What to cook, how much, and from which recipe version — computed from the orders that are actually locked, not from a guess.

Labels and compliance

Labels print from the same recipe and nutrition versions the kitchen produced against, at exact physical size.

Delivery, routing and the driver app

Dispatch that assumes the phone loses signal, because in a delivery van it does.

Admin, staff and the assistant

The back office, with the permissions and the audit trail a business with staff actually needs.

Questions London operators ask

Can we charge a different delivery fee for central London and the outer boroughs?

Yes. You draw the areas you deliver to as zones, and each zone carries its own delivery days, delivery windows, minimum order and fee. A customer's post code decides which zone they are in at checkout. A Wednesday round inside zone 2 and a Saturday round out to Bromley are two zones on one catalogue, each with its own route and its own driver.

The congestion charge and the ULEZ shape how we deliver. Does the software account for them?

It does not pay or check anything on your behalf — the charges are between you, Transport for London and your vehicles. What it gives you is the control. Delivery days, cut-off times, delivery windows and zone boundaries are all yours to set, so you can keep a van out of the centre during charging hours, or run the centre early and the outer zones later, without anyone changing the software.

Can we set our own VAT rate and show prices including it?

Not per product — and it is better you know that before you sign up. You set one VAT rate for the location and choose whether your shown prices include it or it is added at checkout; that is what appears on the order and the invoice. If your accountant needs two different treatments on one receipt, the software does not split it today. We do not decide your VAT position and this is not tax advice.

We sell prepacked meals for direct sale. What does the label print from?

Every meal has a recipe version, and that version carries its ingredients and its allergens. The label prints from the version the kitchen actually produced against, at the label's real physical size, so a recipe change reaches the label without anyone retyping it. What has to appear on your labels, and whether they satisfy Natasha's Law, is decided by you and your environmental health officer — the software's job is that the printed label and the cooked batch never disagree.

Can we start with collection from the kitchen and add delivery later?

Yes. Collection windows and delivery zones are both settings, and the customer chooses between them at checkout. Plenty of London companies start with a Sunday collection from the kitchen or a gym, add one delivery day when the orders justify it, then a second zone. None of that needs a migration, a new plan or a call to us.
