Meal prep in Los Angeles
Built for a city that is an hour wide in every direction.
Los Angeles has been buying prepared meals longer than most places. The studios and the agencies feed people who are on set at six, the gyms from Gold's in Venice to the boxes in Culver City and Studio City send customers counting macros, and a large part of the city eats to a plan — vegan, keto, paleo, post-op, competition. Mealforma is meal prep software that gives a Los Angeles company one place to sell those plans, take the week's orders and see what the kitchen owes.
The distance is the business problem. A kitchen in Vernon or Glendale can have customers in Santa Monica, Pasadena, Long Beach and Woodland Hills on the same day, and the 405, the 10 and the 101 decide whether that is four hours or seven. Mealforma builds each day's route from the orders that are actually locked, orders the stops so a driver is not crossing the basin twice, and hands them the list on a phone with the customer's notes and a photo at the door.
Most LA companies solve the distance with zones rather than heroics. The Westside on one day, the Valley on another, the Eastside and Downtown on a third, each with its own cut-off, delivery window and fee — all settings you change yourself. Early windows matter here too: a customer who leaves for a call time at five wants the box the night before, and that is a delivery window, not a favor the driver remembers.
The last hundred feet varies more than the drive. A gated street in Bel Air, a security desk in a Downtown loft building, a hillside house in Los Feliz with the steps around the back — the driver needs the code and the note on the stop, on their phone, not in a text thread. Customers here also expect to run everything themselves: choose this week's meals, change an address, pause while they are on location. All of that happens in their own account.

How to start a meal prep business in CaliforniaWhy Los Angeles operators move
Three things we decided, so you do not have to negotiate them.
Built-in AI. Set up in minutes, easy every day.
Your shop is ready the moment you sign up, and your team can run it without training. Then switch on AI wherever it helps: a chat on your website that answers customers from your own menu, an assistant in your admin that finds orders and drafts replies, and recipe import that turns a pasted recipe into macros and labels.
See what the AI doesNo percentage of your sales. Ever.
A flat monthly price, and that is the whole bill for the platform. We do not take a cut of your orders, your subscriptions or your growth, and we are not going to add it later.

The menu a customer orders from is the same data the kitchen produces against, the labels print from, and the route is built from. Nothing is re-keyed between tools.
Everything it does
Scope
Meal prep software from the shopping cart to the front door.
Six surfaces that share one catalogue, one set of recipe versions and one order record. Nothing is re-keyed between them.
Storefront and customer portal
A shop your customers order from, and a portal they manage their plan in — both driven by your catalogue rather than a separate website you keep in sync by hand.
Subscriptions and checkout
The part most meal-prep businesses actually run on, modelled properly instead of as a recurring charge with a menu attached.
Kitchen production
What to cook, how much, and from which recipe version — computed from the orders that are actually locked, not from a guess.
Labels and compliance
Labels print from the same recipe and nutrition versions the kitchen produced against, at exact physical size.
Delivery, routing and the driver app
Dispatch that assumes the phone loses signal, because in a delivery van it does.
Admin, staff and the assistant
The back office, with the permissions and the audit trail a business with staff actually needs.

Questions Los Angeles operators ask
Our customers are spread from Santa Monica to Pasadena. How do we deliver without one impossible route?
You split the city into zones and give each one its own delivery days. The Westside on Sunday, the Valley on Monday, the Eastside and Downtown on Tuesday is three routes with three cut-offs, not one list somebody divides by hand. Each day's route is built only from the orders in the zones running that day, and two drivers can run two routes on the same day.
Can each part of the county have its own delivery fee and minimum order?
Yes. A zone carries its own fee, minimum order, delivery days and delivery windows, and the customer's address decides which zone they are in at checkout. A run out to Woodland Hills or Long Beach can cost more than a Silver Lake drop without you quoting it by hand.
Half our stops are gated communities and buildings with a security desk. What does the driver get?
The stop carries the address, the customer's own delivery note — the gate code, the desk, the side entrance, where to leave it — and the order itself. The driver marks the stop done and can take a photo at the door. The route is held on the phone, so a canyon road or a parking structure with no signal does not stop the run.
We sell vegan, keto and macro plans side by side. Does it handle that?
Yes. Plans, menus and portion sizes are yours to define, and a customer can choose meals against their own calorie and protein targets. Macros are computed from your recipes and the amounts you actually use, per portion size, and printed on the label — not typed in per meal and not produced by a language model.
What about the health department paperwork?
Mealforma does not file anything for you — a kitchen here is permitted and inspected by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and that stays between you and them. What the software gives you is the record they ask about: which recipe version each batch was cooked from, what went on the label, and when it was produced and delivered.
