Meal prep in Brisbane
Built for the heat, the hills and a river that doubles every trip.
Brisbane trains outdoors all year and eats early. River runs and the Kangaroo Point stairs, gyms through the Valley and West End, tradies who start at six, and a steady stream of new apartments in Newstead and South Brisbane. Cooking after a humid day is the first thing people give up, so a week of meals bought in one go sells itself. Mealforma is meal prep software that gives a Brisbane company one place to sell those plans, take the orders and see what the week is worth.
Heat is the delivery problem, and it lasts most of the year. A van on a summer afternoon is hotter than the road, so windows have to be short and the route has to hold, and a storm at four o'clock can shut a road with no warning at all. Mealforma builds each day's route from the actual orders, gives the driver the stops in order with the customer's notes, and records a photo at the door on every drop.
The river folds the city back on itself. West End is a few hundred metres from Toowong and a long way round by road, and a route that has to cross at the Story Bridge or the Captain Cook at the wrong hour has thrown away half an hour. The hilly suburbs add their own tax — steep driveways, long stairs and houses on stumps. Zones, fees, minimum orders, delivery days and cut-off times are settings you change yourself.
The metro runs from Caboolture down to Logan and west to Ipswich, with the Gold Coast an hour further on, so a customer's suburb decides whether they are a stop on Tuesday or a day of their own. The address saved at checkout is placed into a delivery zone, so somewhere you do not serve is caught before it becomes a stop. Customers choose their meals before the cut-off, skip a week or pause while they are away, from their own account.

How to start a meal prep business in QueenslandWhy Brisbane operators switch
Three things we decided, so you do not have to negotiate them.
Built-in AI. Set up in minutes, easy every day.
Your shop is ready the moment you sign up, and your team can run it without training. Then switch on AI wherever it helps: a chat on your website that answers customers from your own menu, an assistant in your admin that finds orders and drafts replies, and recipe import that turns a pasted recipe into macros and labels.
See what the AI doesNo percentage of your sales. Ever.
A flat monthly price, and that is the whole bill for the platform. We do not take a cut of your orders, your subscriptions or your growth, and we are not going to add it later.

The menu a customer orders from is the same data the kitchen produces against, the labels print from, and the route is built from. Nothing is re-keyed between tools.
Everything it does
Scope
Meal prep software from the shopping cart to the front door.
Six surfaces that share one catalogue, one set of recipe versions and one order record. Nothing is re-keyed between them.
Storefront and customer portal
A shop your customers order from, and a portal they manage their plan in — both driven by your catalogue rather than a separate website you keep in sync by hand.
Subscriptions and checkout
The part most meal-prep businesses actually run on, modelled properly instead of as a recurring charge with a menu attached.
Kitchen production
What to cook, how much, and from which recipe version — computed from the orders that are actually locked, not from a guess.
Labels and compliance
Labels print from the same recipe and nutrition versions the kitchen produced against, at exact physical size.
Delivery, routing and the driver app
Dispatch that assumes the phone loses signal, because in a delivery van it does.
Admin, staff and the assistant
The back office, with the permissions and the audit trail a business with staff actually needs.

Questions Brisbane operators ask
It is thirty-two degrees and humid. What does the software actually do about that?
It does not keep anything cold — that is your packing and your van. What it does is keep the day short and the record straight: delivery windows you set, the stops in the order the driver should drive them, the customer's safe-place note on each one, and a photo and a time recorded at the door. When a stop fails the driver picks a reason from a list you wrote, so at the end of summer you can see which runs are too long rather than guessing.
What goes on the label, and can we control how it looks?
The label is a template you control, kept as versions and printed at the real size of the stock you buy. It draws the ingredients, allergens and per-serve nutrition from the recipe version the kitchen actually cooked, with ingredient matches approved by a person. Mealforma will not tell you the result satisfies the Food Standards Code — that is between you and your local council — but a recipe change reaches the label without anyone retyping it.
Can a run across the river or out to Logan carry a different fee?
Yes. Each delivery zone is a shape you draw on the map with its own fee, minimum order, free-delivery threshold, delivery days and windows. A customer's address decides which zone applies at checkout, so the far side of the river can cost more and ask for a larger order without you quoting it by hand.
How is GST handled on Australian orders?
You set the tax rate yourself in settings, per location, and a switch decides whether your listed prices already contain it or it is added at checkout. Either way the order keeps the tax as its own figure. Mealforma does not choose the rate for you and does not lodge anything — that stays between you and your accountant.
Do we ever find out which meals are actually making money?
Yes. Ingredient costs are held as versions, so the cost of a recipe is recorded as it stood when you cooked it, and a costing report puts the cost of each meal beside what you sell it for. When a supplier's price moves you get a new cost version rather than a number that quietly changes under last month's figures.
