Meal prep in Melbourne
Built for a grid you cannot park in and suburbs that go on for an hour.
Melbourne buys meal prep the way it buys coffee — regularly, and with opinions. Run clubs and gyms through the inner north, long office hours in the city, a strong vegetarian and vegan habit, and plenty of share houses and apartments where nobody wants the Sunday cook. They order a week at a time and they read the ingredient list. Mealforma is meal prep software that gives a Melbourne company one place to sell those plans, take the orders and see what the week is worth.
The grid looks simple until a driver has to stop in it. The little streets and laneways off Flinders and Lonsdale have nowhere to pull in, trams hold the middle of the road, and a hook turn costs a whole light cycle. Loading zones have time limits that a van with twenty boxes does not respect for long. Mealforma gives the driver the stops in order with each customer's access notes attached, and records a photo at the door so a rushed handover is still on file.
Outside the grid the city runs a long way in every direction — north up the Hume, west past Werribee, south-east towards the peninsula — and the West Gate at four o'clock decides whether the west is a route or a whole afternoon. Zones, fees, minimum orders, delivery days and cut-off times are settings you change yourself, so a kitchen in Collingwood can hold the inner north and east, then add the bayside suburbs as a second day.
The hours matter more than the weather. A lot of customers are at work until six, so evening windows and a safe place at the property carry the route, and a driver who arrives at two o'clock is wasting a trip. Customers choose this week's meals before the cut-off, skip a week, or pause while they are away, from their own account — and the kitchen list is built from the orders that are locked, so a run of skips does not leave you cooking for nobody.

How to start a meal prep business in VictoriaWhy Melbourne kitchens move
Three things we decided, so you do not have to negotiate them.
Built-in AI. Set up in minutes, easy every day.
Your shop is ready the moment you sign up, and your team can run it without training. Then switch on AI wherever it helps: a chat on your website that answers customers from your own menu, an assistant in your admin that finds orders and drafts replies, and recipe import that turns a pasted recipe into macros and labels.
See what the AI doesNo percentage of your sales. Ever.
A flat monthly price, and that is the whole bill for the platform. We do not take a cut of your orders, your subscriptions or your growth, and we are not going to add it later.

The menu a customer orders from is the same data the kitchen produces against, the labels print from, and the route is built from. Nothing is re-keyed between tools.
Everything it does
Scope
Meal prep software from the shopping cart to the front door.
Six surfaces that share one catalogue, one set of recipe versions and one order record. Nothing is re-keyed between them.
Storefront and customer portal
A shop your customers order from, and a portal they manage their plan in — both driven by your catalogue rather than a separate website you keep in sync by hand.
Subscriptions and checkout
The part most meal-prep businesses actually run on, modelled properly instead of as a recurring charge with a menu attached.
Kitchen production
What to cook, how much, and from which recipe version — computed from the orders that are actually locked, not from a guess.
Labels and compliance
Labels print from the same recipe and nutrition versions the kitchen produced against, at exact physical size.
Delivery, routing and the driver app
Dispatch that assumes the phone loses signal, because in a delivery van it does.
Admin, staff and the assistant
The back office, with the permissions and the audit trail a business with staff actually needs.

Questions Melbourne operators ask
Our driver cannot sit in a CBD loading zone for long. Does the route help?
The driver opens the day's stops already in order, with the unit number, the building access note and the package count on each one, so the time goes into the delivery rather than into working out where to go next. Marking a stop delivered and taking the photo is two taps, and if the signal drops in a basement car park it queues on the phone and syncs when the driver is back on the street.
Can we print "gluten free" or "dairy free" on a meal label?
The label prints what your recipe version says. Allergens are recorded on the ingredients, approved by a person rather than accepted from a model, and carried through to the version the kitchen actually cooked. Mealforma will never assert on its own that a meal is free of something — that claim is yours to make and to stand behind, and whether it is permitted is between you, your council and the Food Standards Code.
We advertise prices with GST included. Does checkout work that way?
Yes. There is a switch for whether your listed prices already contain tax or it is added at checkout, and a tax rate you set yourself per location. The order stores the tax as its own figure either way, so the customer sees a clean dollar price and your records still separate it. Mealforma does not choose the rate and does not lodge anything for you.
A lot of our customers are vegetarian or vegan and count macros. Is that handled?
Macros are computed server-side from your recipes and the amounts you actually use, per portion size, and printed on the label. Customers can pick meals against their own energy and protein targets in the portal, and anything you buy in rather than cook can have its figures typed straight from the supplier's sheet instead of being estimated.
If we open a second kitchen, is that a second account?
No. Delivery zones, delivery windows, pick-up times, tax rate and cut-offs are all set per location, so a second kitchen runs its own days and its own zones inside the same company, with one catalogue and one customer list behind them. Staff permissions decide who can see and change which one.
