Meal prep in Houston
Built for a city where the drive home decides what gets eaten.
Houston buys meal prep because of the commute. The Texas Medical Center runs twelve-hour shifts, the Energy Corridor and downtown fill with people who left the house at six, and nobody is cooking at eight at night. Add a serious gym culture and one of the most varied food cities in the country, and the demand runs from macro-counted chicken and rice to halal, Vietnamese, Nigerian and Tex-Mex plans. Mealforma is meal prep software that gives a Houston company one place to sell those plans, take the orders and run the week.
Houston is six hundred square miles of city inside a metro that keeps going. A kitchen inside the Loop can have customers in Katy, Kingwood and Clear Lake, an hour apart in either direction on I-10 or 45 at the wrong time of day. Summer is hot and humid for months, and a heavy rain can close an underpass with no notice. Mealforma builds each day's route from the orders that are actually locked, gives the driver the stops in order with the customer's notes, and takes a photo on delivery.
Most Houston operators pick a side and grow into the rest: inside the Loop first, then west to the Energy Corridor and Katy, or south to Pearland and Sugar Land, or north to Spring and The Woodlands. Each of those is its own driving day, and trying to serve them from one route is how a delivery day turns into a nine-hour one. Delivery zones, delivery days, cut-off times and fees are settings you change yourself, so the west side gets its own Tuesday without anyone calling support.
Houston customers want the whole thing on a phone: choose this week's meals, swap one, skip a week, pause for a trip. Plenty of them order in Spanish, and the storefront, the customer account and the emails are translated so a customer picks their language and keeps it. Gate codes, apartment buildings and office drops are the other half of the job — the address note a customer writes once travels with every order to the driver's phone rather than sitting in your inbox.

How to start a meal prep business in TexasWhy Houston operators move
Three things we decided, so you do not have to negotiate them.
Built-in AI. Set up in minutes, easy every day.
Your shop is ready the moment you sign up, and your team can run it without training. Then switch on AI wherever it helps: a chat on your website that answers customers from your own menu, an assistant in your admin that finds orders and drafts replies, and recipe import that turns a pasted recipe into macros and labels.
See what the AI doesNo percentage of your sales. Ever.
A flat monthly price, and that is the whole bill for the platform. We do not take a cut of your orders, your subscriptions or your growth, and we are not going to add it later.

The menu a customer orders from is the same data the kitchen produces against, the labels print from, and the route is built from. Nothing is re-keyed between tools.
Everything it does
Scope
Meal prep software from the shopping cart to the front door.
Six surfaces that share one catalogue, one set of recipe versions and one order record. Nothing is re-keyed between them.
Storefront and customer portal
A shop your customers order from, and a portal they manage their plan in — both driven by your catalogue rather than a separate website you keep in sync by hand.
Subscriptions and checkout
The part most meal-prep businesses actually run on, modelled properly instead of as a recurring charge with a menu attached.
Kitchen production
What to cook, how much, and from which recipe version — computed from the orders that are actually locked, not from a guess.
Labels and compliance
Labels print from the same recipe and nutrition versions the kitchen produced against, at exact physical size.
Delivery, routing and the driver app
Dispatch that assumes the phone loses signal, because in a delivery van it does.
Admin, staff and the assistant
The back office, with the permissions and the audit trail a business with staff actually needs.

Questions Houston operators ask
Our customers are an hour apart. Can west, south and north run on different days?
Yes, and for a metro this size that is usually the only thing that works. Each zone you draw has its own delivery days, delivery windows, minimum order and fee, and a customer's address decides which zone they are in at checkout. Katy on a Tuesday, Pearland and Sugar Land on a Wednesday, inside the Loop on both — three zones on one catalogue, each building its own route with its own driver.
Summer is brutal and streets flood. What can the software actually do about that?
Nothing about the weather, and it does not refrigerate anything. What it does is shorten the driving day and keep the record straight: the route comes from the orders that are locked, the driver has the stops in order on a phone that holds the list without signal, and each drop is time-stamped with a photo. If you move a zone's window to early morning for July and August, that is a setting, not a rebuild.
A lot of our customers order in Spanish. Can the storefront be bilingual?
Yes. The storefront, the customer account and the emails are translated, and your own menu text can be written in each language you sell in. A customer picks their language and keeps it; nothing about their plan, their meals or their billing changes with it.
We cook halal, and customers ask about every ingredient. What prints on the box?
Ingredients, allergens and nutrition, printed from the recipe version the kitchen actually cooked, at the label's real size. You write your own ingredient text and it stays attached to that version, so a substitution reaches the label without anyone retyping it. Mealforma prints what your recipes say — it does not certify a dish as halal or as free of anything.
Who permits our kitchen, and does Mealforma handle any of it?
No — inside the city limits your kitchen is permitted and inspected by the Houston Health Department, and that stays between you and them. What the software gives you is the record they ask about: which recipe version each batch was cooked from, what went on the label, and when it was produced and delivered.
